Last Sunday I produced the 2009 Iowa State Dance Benefit Gala in the Forker Building in Ames, Iowa.  We had a lot of special guest artists come and perform.  3 dancers/choreographers from Champaign-Urbana created quite a stir in our little college town.  The guest of honor was Jennie Pitts from Reno/Tahoe who performed after completing a week long residency in the dance department.  As well, she set a duet from 2004 and a more recent sextet on Orchesis I Dance Company.  Ken James of Fellow Travelers Performance Group set a new trio and that was performed in the opening reception.  The concert also featured two local companies, Hurley & Dancers and Co'motion Dance Theater.  I was delighted to receive my first standing ovation in Iowa at the end of the show!  Thanks to the patrons who turned out and to all who helped with the production.

 On Thursday, my Dance Compostion class showed a highlight of their choreography from the semester.  I always love it when I can bring some fresh and innovative work out of my students.  They were amazing!

An excerpt from the new quartet I'm making will be performed in the Dance Benefit Gala at Iowa State University on Sunday, December 6th 7pm Forker Building Studio 196.

 The full evening length piece will premeier in March with performances set for March 5, 6, 7 in Ames and Des Moines.
